Sunday was amazing! I showed up later than I normally would (due to getting my taxes done), but even at 5 PM Reverchon Park’s corner area was a sea of smiling faces, children playing, and people taking in the serenity of a Sunday afternoon. What started as an iffy morning of possible rain turned into a day of sunshine and a warm zephyr that was not too cool and not too hot (almost as if an Indian summer was making a late appearance).
The DJs blessed the crowd with some Deep House and Terry Simms took us to another level by bringing the raucous sound of Hip Hop’s formative years. A day where you can hear Special Ed’s “I Got It Made” with no complaint loud as all get out is a good day indeed.
From Hip Hop we took a tour on some classic jazz and back into the groove again. Normally folks tend to get their blankets and mats, enjoy a meal and each other while laying out, but this party was different. PEOPLE WERE DANCING.
Children (and some adults) at play, dogs interacting with each other and their owners, and the grace of a good time lead to the following pictures:
I think that the fact that more and more families are coming to the event is a large benefit. The music being shared is something that we hope to be able to impart to so many. Beyond sharing the collected musical knowledge of a few minds, we are PROUD to share the sense of community that we foster with each gathering. The fact that this was the first one of the year and such a huge turnout gives hope that we are doing things correctly.
And if you don’t act right, we sic these lovely ladies on you:
There are many more park parties to come this year and again we cannot stress enough that without you, there is no us. Share the events with your friends, bring your families, and come enjoy time away from inside and spend it outside underneath the daystar with a soundtrack and environment guaranteed to keep you entertained!
