Park Party season has come into full swing and has now officially kicked off 2011 with not one, but TWO parties (back to back, no less) this year. As the weather changes, so must we and the months of being indoors are now providing the drive to get out and gather again.
The night before led many to believe that it would be a damp day with a little sunlight to stray in and brighten the event, but the first of many surprises was the serene breeze generated from the residual chill of the night before and the blue skies and bright sun that graced the Metroplex. Extremely thankful for that turn in things, you get to see how things came about as follows:
What always gets me is seeing how many children are present and how much they get into it all. I remember as a child going to my first family reunion and thinking “Man, this is a lot of people!” I can only imagine their minds and seeing people that mom and dad know so well and making all manner of new friends in the process. The next generation is getting an early introduction to the camaraderie that has brought us this far today. These are but a few of the gentle souls that are our tomorrow:
As the kids get into the joy of things, it’s an added benefit to see the parents enjoying the day as well.
Amidst it all, those of us not yet married or just celebrating freedom on a Sunday with others find ways to enjoy the day as well. A number of single souls, pets, couples, and random lookers-on came through to participate as well.
And in was in the middle of reveling with David Lewis on the decks that the Park Party got another surprise from the following couple:
My man, Brandon had come known only to a select few (not even myself at the time ) with the intent of proposing to his lovely soon-to-be now bride, Amy. The beats go deep there is a small lull in the music and then a loud yell and I see the following as the end result of a triumphant undertaking:
A pair who once went as Medusa and her frozen suitor now stand as a pair soon to be united with no fear of frozen hearts or minds in their future. Congratulations to them both and may we see this next pic in tux and gown soon enough!
All in all it was another fantastic Sunday. Also found out through proxy that another friend, Kelle Marie ALSO got engaged that day. Congratulations to you as well, lady!
There were a few notables that showed up near the end of the event, but the ever-funny Squirt was the comedic closer for the day. He and the next guy were the heroes of the day for their hilarity and offerings:
With the thought of ice cream being first choice fare, leaving our jackets behind, and prepping for the onset of spring/summer, my heart grows giddy. Daylight Savings will flip again this weekend and then its all over but the waiting for Texas’ next season to spring to life once more (pun intended).
As the weather becomes more able to forecast for, so will the Park Parties. Thank you for your continued support (those attending) and to those who have yet to, feel free to join us at the next week. Always a good time and a spot for you if you want to stop by. We’re there to boogie down and not bring you down!
