The Funk Phenomenon

This past weekend was a great one in regards to music from the Seventies.  Heatwave, Brass Construction, Barry Manilow (yep, I said it), and the crossover hits that spilled into the Eighties (like Lipps, Inc) got played to a dancefloor that took up the disco chant with no delay.

It was a double attack at Fallout Lounge on both Saturday and Sunday nights.  DJs Gabriel Mendoza, Travis Box, and Patty Rodriguez served the sounds up for Saturday night with “The Big Hustle.”  Sunday night was the follow up with DJ G, Dashiki Jones, and myself (starring as Rufus P. Funk) with “Boogie Down”.  There were so many hot hits played this weekend that I damn near blame the DJs from both nights for bringing on this surprise cold front to Dallas.

We started the weekend off at about 80 degrees and brought the city to a blustery, brisk 49 degrees by the time Sunday night’s session was complete.  I think we took all the city’s heat with all the good music played!

Both nights saw dancing and joy and already a plan is in place to make them happen again.  Stayed tuned, but until that time, here are some pics to tide you over.

As you can see, I’m still testing out some of ways to best display content on here.  From your feedback from last week it turns out that the slideshow option doesn’t work on all phones/browsers so let’s see if this gallery setting does better.  Here is a link to the remainder of the pics from this weekend: in Dallas 2011/Marching into May

Feedback always appreciated and ever welcome!  Share with those you know and recognize!
