As the title implies, change is here. Weather has become outside activity friendly, you need a throw or a jacket in the evening, Halloween is around the corner, and the State Fair is here (expect lots of pics from there soon)!
In regards to outdoor activities, Park Party People (look for the name on Facebook) kicked off their fall series at Reverchon Park this past Sunday. Park Party People is a family-friendly mix of nature, man, and music that happens on Sundays. Check the FB site for updates to make sure of when and where they will be celebrating (as they have two other locations for celebration that they use as well).
Sunday nights at The Goat are becoming more and more happening. Football and baseball are driving forces that get people out of their homes and into the local bar, but Sunday nights are known for Carmen’s Karaoke here. The drinks are stout, the staff is able and ready, and the crowd is unlike any other. Cowboys, punk rockers, businessmen, preps, skaters, thugs, and squares all congregate to celebrate the love of music (be it sung badly or exceptionally well).
Business is also growing and thanks (in part) to some of the views from here I’m starting to gain a bit of local notoriety. It feels good to know that someone knows your name (in a good way, lol) before you even meet them. As black and white as the city may seem at times (pun intended), I’m experiencing more growth than I have in all my time here in the past year thanks to just getting out there.
The lesson I’ve learned?
Change starts with self.
Today’s theme music:
See you on Thursday!
